Hours Per Shift: 8 hr
Provides nursing care for patients with obstetric and gynecologic needs during labor delivery and postpartum. Provides nursing care for patients with obstetric and gynecologic needs during labor delivery and postpartum; identifies additional needs for mothers and babies in birthing units. Monitors patients' condition during high-risk pregnancies and assists in examinations and procedures. Provides guidance to expectant mothers in prenatal self-care, e.g. nutrition, weight gain, and daily activity levels. Maintains records of patient conditions and test results within care plans. Family Medicine CNM's will have a full scope nurse midwivery practice including clinic practice and hospital, call rotation with the family practitioners practicing obstetrical care.
Is currently licensed to practice as a Certified Nurse Midwife in the state of practice. Have achieved and will maintain certification by an ACNM designated Board ie: the American Midwifery Certification Board (formerly the ACNM Certification Council). Has successfully completed a formal nurse midwife program of study beyond the basic RN role. This program includes academic science and clinical experiences specific to the nurse midwife role, graduating with a minimum of a Masters Degree. Those who have obtained APRN licensure prior to 2000 will be grandfathered in.
